What is Automotive Engineering Technology?

The Automotive Engineering Technology major in TVET consist of 4 certificate courses and 7 diploma programs. Certificate in Vehicle Body Repair Technology program offers theoretical and practical skills training in the field of vehicle body repair technology which includes vehicle damage assessment for repair purposes as well as replacement of spare parts and materials. Students will master the skills to perform gas welding, brazing, tapping, cementing and painting the body of a vehicle. Students will also be exposed to the work of dismantling and reassembling vehicle body components including the wiring system as well as the basics of entrepreneurship. Certificate in Automotive Engineering Technology offers theory-based and practical skills training covering commercial vehicle engine maintenance and overhaul work. Among the scope of training is to overhaul petrol and diesel engines, repair the transmission system, suspension, steering, brake and fuel injection pump as well as workshop work such as grinding, grinding, cutting, soldering, threading and welding. Students will also be exposed to the elements of entrepreneurship and encouraged to become technical entrepreneurs upon graduation. Certificate in Marine Engineering Technology The program offers theory-based and practical skills training that includes maintenance work and overhaul of marine machinery engines. Among the scope of the training is to overhaul petrol and diesel engines, repair transmission systems, electrical & electronics as well as refrigeration and air conditioning systems as well as workshop tasks such as planing, grinding, cutting, soldering, threading and welding. Students will also be exposed to the elements of entrepreneurship and encouraged to become technical entrepreneurs upon graduation. Diploma in Automotive Engineering Technology program is designed to produce knowledgeable and efficient human resources in the automotive sector who are capable in engineering and technical skills to support engineers and other professionals involved in the development, manufacturing and operational testing, inspection and maintenance of automotive systems. Students are exposed to relevant knowledge, practical and technical skills in diagnosing, repairing and analyzing automotive technology systems. The qualities of efficient leadership and professionalism are also emphasized. Students are encouraged to have the attitude to practice lifelong learning in line with the latest changes in automotive technology. Students will also be exposed to the elements of entrepreneurship and encouraged to become technical entrepreneurs upon graduation. Diploma in Automotive Technology program is designed to produce knowledgeable and competent human resources in automotive technology who are proficient in technical skills to support engineers and other professionals involved in the development, manufacturing and operational testing, inspection and maintenance of automotive systems. Students are exposed to relevant knowledge, practical and technical skills in diagnosing, repairing and analyzing automotive technology systems. Students are exposed to relevant knowledge, practical and technical skills in diagnosing, repairing and analyzing commercial automotive technology systems. The qualities of efficient leadership and professionalism are also emphasized. Students are encouraged to have the attitude to practice lifelong learning in line with the latest changes in commercial automotive technology. Students will also be exposed to the elements of entrepreneurship and encouraged to become technical entrepreneurs upon graduation. Diploma in Automotive Technology (4Wd) program is designed to produce knowledgeable and competent human resources in four -wheel drive (4WD) automotive technology who are proficient in technical skills to support engineers and other professionals involved in the development, manufacturing and operational testing, inspection and maintenance of automotive (4WD) systems. Students are exposed to relevant knowledge, practical and technical skills in diagnosing, repairing and upgrading/modifying standard four-wheel drive vehicles to off-Road. The qualities of efficient leadership and professionalism are also emphasized. Students are encouraged to have the attitude to practice lifelong learning in line with the latest changes in commercial automotive technology. Students will also be exposed to the elements of entrepreneurship and encouraged to become technical entrepreneurs upon graduation. Diploma in Automotive Technology (Service) is available in IKM Jasin and TSYA Pekan. Diploma in Vehicle Body Repair and Paint Technopreneur is available in IKM Kota Kinablu and Diploma in Marine Technology is available in IKM Berseri.
