What is Industrial Engineering?
Industrial Engineering is the study of industrial processes both in terms of management and engineering. Industrial engineering is actually a derivative of mechanical engineering. Even so, students must also study other disciplines such as mathematics, physics, physiology, and even scientific management. Industrial engineering focuses on the design, improvement and installation of integrated systems that require the role of humans, materials, equipment and energy. Industrial Engineering itself is divided into three major fields. First, a manufacturing system that studies the improvement of quality, productivity, and efficiency of production systems. Second is industrial management, where students must study financial management, operational management, innovation management, production planning and control, and technical economics. The third is the industrial and techno-economic system, such as logistics, statistics, operational research, and database systems.
