What is Metrology?
In the Metrology study program, methods of measurement, calibration and accuracy are studied in the fields of industry, science and technology. Metrology includes determining the definition of an international unit of measurement (for example: meters for length, kilograms for mass, 'C for temperature, etc.), the realization of a unit of measurement based on scientific methods, and the determination of the suitability of various measuring instruments with existing standards. Metrology also includes measurements related to economic, health and safety aspects. This study program not only learns about measurement, but also deals with electronics, instrumentation, automation, and related to strong currents. Don't get it wrong to distinguish between METROLOGY, METEOROLOGY, and METALURGY study programs. All three are different disciplines.
Why did you choose this programme?
Metrology is a field that we indirectly feel everyday. Our daily life cannot be separated from metrology. For example, when buying a fruit weighing 1 kg, then there is an inaccuracy (measuring error) on the scale to 1.02 kg, it may seem small, but if you buy the fruit in tons, you will experience a big loss! This is where the metrological role in carrying out the agenda periodically checks the measuring instruments used by the community or company to prevent or improve inaccuracy. If you like math and physics lessons, interested in learning measurement science, you will be fit to become a Metrology student.
