Welcome to Imperial College London
Imperial College London is completely unique among the UK's top universities because it only focuses on Science, Engineering, Medicine, and Business (STEMB). You will not find any Arts, Humanities, or Social Science students here.
- Highly Practical & Industry-Focused: Unlike Oxford and Cambridge, which lean heavily into theoretical and traditional academic study, Imperial is known for being incredibly hands-on. Students spend massive amounts of time in high-tech laboratories, working on group design projects, and solving real-world industrial problems.
- The London Lifestyle: Located in South Kensington (central London), Imperial doesn't have the quiet, traditional “college bubble"" of Oxbridge. It is fast-paced, modern, and plugged directly into the global tech, finance, and medical industries.
- Intense Workload: Because of the heavy contact hours (lots of lectures and long lab sessions), the academic pressure is notoriously high. Students here are heavily driven by innovation, research, and future career prospects.
📜 Entry Qualification
- A-Level
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
📅 Registration Info
Applying to Imperial is done entirely through the standard UK university system, but the deadlines depend heavily on the course you choose.
- The Portal: All applications must be submitted online through the UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) system.
- The Deadlines: * October 15th (the year before entry): The strict early deadline for Medicine applicants.
- Late January (usually around Jan 29th–31st): The standard deadline for all other Engineering, Science, and Business courses.
- Admissions Tests: Almost all departments at Imperial now require a pre-interview admissions test (like the ESAT, TMUA, or UCAT). You must register for these by September and take them in October, regardless of whether your UCAS deadline is in October or January.
- Interviews: Imperial is one of the few standard UK universities outside of Oxbridge that heavily interviews its candidates. Shortlisted students are usually invited to an online interview between November and February.
💡 Test
- ESAT: Engineering and Science Admissions Test
- TMUA: Test of Mathematics for University Admission
- UCAT: University Clinical Aptitude Test
Note: A few specific departments, like Bioengineering, Chemistry, and Materials, currently do not use an admissions test, but students should always check the official course page for the latest updates.

⭐ Student Reviews
"An amazing university with rich history and excellent facilities for education majors. The lecturers are very supportive, and the campus environment in Tanjong Malim is extremely peaceful and conducive for studying."
"Great place to study. The residential colleges are comfortable and the new campus has great modern tech. The only downside is that the town is quite small, so entertainment options are a bit limited, but it forces you to focus!"
