📅 Registration Info
Applying to SNU as an international student is highly structured and depends on your exact nationality status.
- The International Admissions Track I: This is the specific track for international applicants (where both the applicant and their parents are non-Korean citizens). You apply directly through the SNU Office of Admissions Online Portal.
- The Intakes & Timelines: SNU offers two distinct intakes for undergraduates:
- Spring Semester (Starts in March): Applications typically open and close very early, usually in July of the preceding year.
- Fall Semester (Starts in September): Applications typically open and close in February to early March of that same year.
- Language Requirements (CRITICAL): SNU accepts both Korean and English proficiency, but your choices depend on the language medium of your degree.
- Korean Proficiency: If your program is taught in Korean, you must submit a TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) score of Level 3 or higher. (Note: Students admitted with Level 3 must reach Level 4 before graduation).
- English Proficiency: If applying for English-medium tracks, you must submit an IELTS Academic score of 6.0+, a TOEFL iBT of 80+, or a TEPS score of 269+.
- Holistic Review: SNU does not strictly use entrance exams for standard international students. Admission is based on a comprehensive review of your high school grades, personal statement, study plan, letters of recommendation, and proof of language proficiency. Some specific majors (like Fine Arts or Music) may require performance tests or portfolios.
💡 Test
For the vast majority of international applicants, SNU's admission process relies strictly on a comprehensive document review rather than a single entrance exam.
- Document Screening: You do not need to take general standardized tests like the SAT or ACT (though submitting a stellar SAT score as supplementary material can strengthen your application). The admissions committee makes their primary decision based on your high school transcripts, personal essay, and study plan.
- Interviews: Shortlisted applicants for specific, highly competitive programs (like Medicine, Dentistry, or Veterinary Medicine) will be required to pass a rigorous formal interview. Additionally, the admissions committee may occasionally request an interview for applicants in other majors if they feel they need to assess the student's academic potential or language skills further.
- Practical/Performance Tests: Required only for applicants to the College of Fine Arts or the College of Music.

"Great place to study. The residential colleges are comfortable and the new campus has great modern tech. The only downside is that the town is quite small, so entertainment options are a bit limited, but it forces you to focus!"
