About Institut Latihan Perindustrian Ipoh

Human Resources (formerly known as the People's Department) serves as the department responsible for producing skilled labor to meet the needs and demands of the semi-skilled and skilled workforce of the country's industrial sector.

The Taman Meru Industrial Area has been selected as the location for the construction of a skill institute that will stimulate the economic growth of Perak.

The Ipoh Industrial Training Institute is located in Taman Meru Industrial Area about 12 km from Ipoh City Center. The Ipoh ILP was completed in 1989 and was the first ILP in Malaysia after the ILP Kuala Lumpur, Perai, Kuala Terengganu, Pasir Gudang, Labuan, Kuantan, Kota Bahru and Jitra under the administration of the People's Department at the time.

In 1990, the Ipoh ILP, better known as the ITI Ipoh by the surrounding community, began operating with a staff of 25 staff. The first intake of students was 80 students with a total of 5 courses offered in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Courses, Electrical Technology, General Mechanics, Metal Fabrication and Arc and Gas Welding.

The Ipoh ILP Opening Ceremony was officiated by the Perak Young King, Raja Nazrin Shah Ibni Sultan Azlan Shah on July 3, 1992.
