Institut Kemahiran MARA Kuching

MARA Kuching Skills Institute is the oldest Technical Education Institute in Sarawak. This institute was established in 1983 and is located at Jalan Sultan Tengah, Petra Jaya. The institute has been developed on the area an area of ​​18.8 hectares.

Started operations with a recruitment of 51 trainees in 1984 with four areas of skills courses offered namely Plumbing Course, Brick Laying and Plastering Course, Carpentry and Mortise Course and Furniture Carpentry Course. Next, three more courses were added, namely Motor Engineering Course, Gas Welding Course and Arc and Domestic & Industrial Electrical Courses. Two more course areas were introduced, namely the Motorcycle Engineering Course in 1988 and the Vehicle Knocking and Painting Course in 1990. At the end of 1993 the ‘The motorcycle Engineering Course has stopped.

The MARA Kuching Skills Institute has taken another step forward by adding several courses, namely the Marine Engineering Technology Course (1998), Industrial Electronic Engineering Technology Course (2001) and Al Grade Machinery Maintenance Course (MARA Joint Venture and Sarawak State Government) in mid - 2003.

Currently, the MARA Kuching Skills Institute has 9 areas of Technology Skills Courses.
Starting from 1984 to 2020, a total of 15 Directors have served at IKM Kuching
