About Institut Latihan Perindustrian Arumugam Pillai

Origin of the Establishment of the Arumugam Pillai Industrial Training Institute, Nibong Tebal, Penang starts when The British brought in workers from South India to develop the rubber industry in Malaysia.

The Tamil Fund Board established in 1907 to facilitate the entry of Indian workers into Malaya was later replaced by the South Indian Labor Fund.

This fund is created to look after the welfare of Indians who want to return to their old age. N.T.S. Arumugam Pillai, AMN (1915-1989) A successful and well-known entrepreneur, landowner and community leader in the northern part of Malaya, NTS Arumugam Pillai donated 15 acres of land to the South Indian Labor Fund for the purpose of building an elderly welfare home for old farm laborers.

The Malaysian government decided to set up an industrial training institute to provide technical skills training to youths from the backdrop of plantation and youth in Malaysia as a whole. Then there is the Arumugam Pillai Industrial Training Institute, Nibong Tebal, Penang.

The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by YB Dato 'Fong Chan Onn, Minister of Human Resources on March 10, 1998 and construction work officially began on February 22, 1999. Implementation of the ILP Arumugam Pillai project was done' Design and Built '.

ILP Arumugam Pillai is one of 32 Training Centers run by the Department of Human Resources, Ministry of Human Resources. ILP Arumugam Pillai runs skills and technology courses with advanced machine learning and training equipment. ILP Arumugam Pillai has been given special attention to be the center of excellence for the course of Printing. Half of the students here are Printing Technology students who are divided into 3 certificates:

ILP Arumugam Pillai has been around for 15 years since its inception has produced more than 14,000 skilled graduates through full-time and short-term programs.
