About Institut Kemahiran MARA Sik
The history of the establishment of the MARA Sik Skills Institute is based on the proposal to move the existing IKM Alor Setar to a new location in the Sik District. This is because the 25 -year State Government land lease has expired and the area for expansion is limited.
IKM Sik is located in Sik Dalam, Sik District,
Kedah with an area of ​​33 acres and a land price of RM 3.0 million. The original types of land conditions are rubber, paddy fields and village land. The building was specially designed by Azmi Luddin Architects which cost approximately RM 47.0 million. The total cost is approximately RM 67.7 million including building, land, professional fees,
equipment and fittings.
A ground breaking ceremony was held on 24 April 2000 officiated by YAB Dato 'Seri Hj Syed Razak Syed Zain, Menteri Besar of Kedah. Also present at the ceremony was Y. Bhg. Tuan Hj Abdul Karim Haron (Director General of MARA), Tuan Hj Abdul Aziz Abdul (Director of MARA Skills Division),
Kedah State MARA Director and invited guests.
