What is Civil Technician?

A Civil Technician must apply the theory and principles of civil engineering in planning, designing, and supervising construction, as well as maintaining structures and facilities under the direction of technical staff and physics scientists. Provides technical support for civil engineers, while working on construction projects. A Civil Technician must also have problem solving skills, technical drawing skills, and IT skills.

Task

? Accompany the site survey, before the project starts ? Manage laboratory analysis of soil, rocks, and material samples ? Creating design plans, both manually and with CAD computer programs ? Make dimensional drawings in detail, design layouts for projects, and ensure conformity to specifications ? Calculate dimensions, square area, profile and component specifications, and the number of materials using a calculator or computer ? Read and review the design and specifications of the project structure, to determine the dimensions of the structure / system and material requirements ? Prepare estimates of labor costs, amount, and type of material to be used ? Make a time schedule for sending raw materials, equipment, and labor ? Confer with his supervisor to determine project details, such as plans for preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field situations ? Negotiate with goods providers when buying raw materials ? Inspect the project location and evaluate the contractor's work, to detect designs that fail and to ensure compliance with design specifications ? Report problems (if any), to the site manager and prepare reports for project engineers
