What is Airport Electrical Engineering?

This study program can be said as the Electrical Engineering in the field of Aviation. The Diploma III Airport Electrical Engineering study program learns about the electricity of the airport which includes airport lighting and the air side electricity system (air side) called Air Field Lighting. Electrical systems at airports with homes or other buildings are certainly different. Here we will get knowledge about how much electricity is needed by an airport to operate all equipment that supports airport activities. In addition, it will also be taught how to operate and maintain the electricity of the airport, and analyze problems in the airport electrical system and make improvements. But the knowledge that can be obtained is not only limited to the knowledge of airport electricity, but more broadly to the knowledge of installations, motors, and generators.

Why did you choose this programme?

Do you like tweaking or designing and assembling electronic devices? In this study program you can learn how to tamper with airport electrical equipment, you know. In this study program you will be able to find out about the types and methods of work and special electrical equipment at the airport such as the Runway Edge Light, Rotating Beacon, CCR, TCR, ACOS, AVR, Rotary Switch, and others.

Suitable Student's Characteristic

Job Prospect for Airport Electrical Engineering

Airport Electrical Engineering graduates who have obtained a license can be the resources needed in the airport sector. Because it has extensive electronics knowledge and is not only limited to knowledge of electrical equipment at the airport, graduates of this study program can also work outside the aviation sector.
