What is Oil Technic?

Similar to Mining Engineering, the Petroleum Engineering study program studies the science of exploration, exploitation of natural resources. The difference lies in the object. If Mining Engineering learns about the challenge of mining solid minerals, the Petroleum Engineering studies fluid mining, namely in the form of petroleum, natural gas and geothermal. Aspects studied include reservoir techniques, drilling, production, to the management of the oil and gas economy. Not only learning about exploration, exploitation, and oil processing, students of the Petroleum Engineering study program are required to be innovative in finding techniques that are more efficient in exploration, exploitation and processing, and in producing energy with low emission levels.

Why did you choose this programme?

Oil and gas are resources that require proper handling techniques, because it takes a long time for oil and gas to be renewed. Therefore, experts in the oil sector are needed. To study in the Petroleum Engineering study program you really have to do math, physics and chemistry. But do not worry, if you are not very good at these subjects, that does not mean you are not suitable to enter the Petroleum Engineering study program, because in this sophisticated age the calculation process can be used with calculators and special oil software. In addition, in the first semester you will learn basic mathematics and physics before entering into special courses and practicum.

Job Prospect for Oil Technic

The Petroleum Engineering study program is one of the most targeted study programs because its graduates are believed to have extraordinary career prospects. Graduates will become "oil masons" with hundreds of thousands of dollars in income, because it is undeniable that this one resource is an expensive asset. The graduates can have a career in various national and international oil and gas companies such as Petronas, Petron, Medco, other oil & gas companis or work in government fields such as the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Executive Agency for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (BP Oil and Gas), and the Regulatory Agency for Downstream Oil and Gas. The world of banking and insurance turns out to also require graduates of Petroleum Engineering as risk analysts for credit / claims submitted in oil and gas exploitation activities.
