What is Medical Physics?

The Medical Physics study program studies the application of physical principles for the benefit of health and treatment. Its scope includes radiology diagnostics, namely the use of radiation to diagnose diseases in patients through what we know as X-Ray / X-ray / CT-Scan, Ultrasonography (US); and Radiation Therapy, namely the use of radioactive as a method of cancer therapy. The study program will study the operational procedures, installation, testing, quality control, calibration and monitoring of safety procedures. Universities that provide Medical Physics study programs hold these study programs on different faculties. For example, at the University of Indonesia, Medical Physics is in the Faculty of MIPA, so graduates will hold a Bachelor of Science degree. Medical Physics also exists as a speciality in the Department of Physics.

Why did you choose this programme?

Who says physics doesn't have a role in health science? In fact physics is quite widely applied in the medical world. You must be familiar with X-rays or X-rays that are not only used to scan passenger luggage at the airport, but also used in hospitals. Now this is one part of Medical Physics. At present health technology continues to grow, so experts are needed who can master the use of technology in the medical world and develop innovations. In addition, according to international standards, in radiology must be carried out by competent experts. Therefore graduates of the Medical Physics study program will definitely be needed in the future.
